Chatham Cup – Round 1 preview
Looking forward to this weekend’s cup football!
Not only is it cup football but it’s the Chatham cup which is the most prestigious club trophy in New Zealand football. On Saturday we welcome Adam at the helm of the club of the north Waimak United for this round one fixture.
Over Coastal’s 10 years of existence success for this trophy has been somewhat elusive. The deepest we have gone was a game I have fond memories of when we made the last 16 and lost to Caversham in Dunedin 5-4. A Turnbull Hattrick, Paul Bateson getting sent off and Matt Thomas coming out of goal to play in the field to make a big difference. What a game that was. Its definitely a cup where great memories can be made and our group has prioritized for these games accordingly. Aside from Ash Wellbourn not being eligible for this game we are basically full strength and look to play with real confidence.
Kick off: 2pm
Location: Cuthberts Green, S2 (view here)
